Dodgers Minor League who's the best G.M in baseball?
please don't use payroll has an excuse. just look at the dodgers in the 90's they were the first team to have a 100 million dollar payroll but because they had a horrible G.M they didn't make the playoffs for years. the atlanta G.M is differenthe had a high payroll but the only high price player he sign in free angency during the early years was Greg Maddux, but he found and develope most of his talent. he traded for Jhon Smoltz when he was a minor league in the tigers system. he drafted and sign Chipper Jones, Andruw Jones,Tom Glavine Ryan Klesko, and David Justice. so it wasn't the payroll but he was just good enough to find talent and value them right.
John Sherholtz is definitely going to be very high on the list of alltime GM"s even though I cannot stand the Braves. The fourteen straight playoff trips were no accident. How they manage to keep putting out great teams escapes the imagination. Jose Manaya of the Mets may get that good if he can do it another ten years. Billy Beane, although he is an egomaniac, does a good job taking a team with few resources in Oakland and has them in the playoffs a lot.
