Fast Pitch Softball
Any Tips switching to Fast Pitch softball?
So I have played slow pitch softball for 8 years, this season will be my 9th.
However I also considering playing school softball which is fast pitch.
I have played fast pitch fall ball but the coach never taught me how to hit.?
So are their any tips for switching, I will be playing both at the same time by the way.
and one more thing...
can you use a fast pitch bat in slow pitch or is the barrel size to big?
Learn to slap hit from the left hand box and you will be a valuable weapon!
There is no difference (by NFHS, ASA, or NCAA rule) between a fast or slow pitch bat. A bat is a bat but must meet certain criteria. If you are playing high school ball the bat must bear the ASA 2000 or 2004 certification mark, not be dented or cracked or on the "non-approved list."
While any legal bat can do double duty in slow or fast pitch, in the fast pitch game you will need a much lighter bat. Slappers use the lightest they can find, and the power hitters use a bit heavier bat but still much lighter than you would want for the slow pitch game.
The key to hitting a fast pitch is quickness. Get a lighter bat, go to the batting cages, learn to shorten your swing and start hitting!
Many HS coaches will frown on you playing slow pitch during the HS season, but that is up to you.

The best colleges for softball are the teams in the top 25. Just look up the polls. Almost every college recruits their players. You'll most likely get noticed by local colleges first. Usually the recruits will come to you. They'll generally be at tournaments. If it's a small tournament, usually just local colleges will come. But if it's a big tournament (like the state championship tournament), bigger colleges will come. Summer league is also a good way to get recognized. Also, you can invite a scout to watch you play.
