is there a code on how far a boiler can be from the chimney stack in the basement. I want to move my one boiler(it services about 1000 sq ft on the second flooor )because it is in a really annoying spot right now but I'm not sure how far the vent can be from the brick chimney wall. the spot where i want to put it is 8 feet farther than it is now, and it looks to be a four inch pipe coming from the boiler. I live in New Jersey, US and i want to do it myself to save some cash. i know how to do the other stuff i have done it many times.(sweat and thread pipe) I am an electritian by trade.sorry so lengthy some people need a lot of details
I agree with xenon. To add to his answer...boilers area whole different ball game compared to plumbing and electricity. If you don't know what you are doing with the boiler you will end up with cracked heat exchangers also. Want to save money call a pro. I have condemned a boiler because home owner knew what he was doing.
