According to ASA rules, what is the least legal weight on a slow pitch softball bat?
Someone had told me that it was 22 oz., but I thought it was 26 oz. Can anyone help plz? THanks!!
I'm not sure that the ASA mandates a specific weight. To be legal however, the bat must appear on the ASA's list of approved equipment and must bear the ASA certification mark.
bat manufacturers are required to test their bats under a standard test method published by the American Society for Testing and Materials (www.astm.org). The standard contract generally allows a bat to be certified under the ASA 2000 Bat Performance Standard if its batted ball speed, when measured according to the ASTM F1890 standard test method, does not exceed 125 feet per second.
Beginning on January 1, 2004, a bat can be certified under the ASA 2004 Bat Performance Standard if its batted ball speed, when measured according to the ASTM F2219 standard test method as approved for submittal to ballot, does not exceed 98 mph.

What is the best ASA approved slow-pitch softball bat?
Demarini is by far the best type of softball bat on the market. However you are looking at spending around $300 for slow-pitch bat. Yet, in slow-pitch the best approved bat has less of an impact compared to fast pitch. You can easily find a quality $200 bat for slow-pitch and really the results will not be much different. Make sure you don't get a fast pitch bat though because it will be a much lighter bat and over swinging with it in slow-pitch will be a common mistake. A slow pitch bat is weighted differently in order to control your swing.
