what is your way of breaking in a baseball glove?


Hi, I just bought a black Rawlings PROSTB-50 12.75 inch glove, Im an outfielder. I've never had one specific way to break my gloves in, and for this one, i really wanted to have a great pocket. So one of my trainers said to put a softball in the glove and keep it closed, which I am doing now and the pocket is coming along real well. I also always used glove conditioning oil to make my glove flexible, but my trainer said that that might make it a little heavier.

I am just curious to see how anyone else breaks in their glove, anything to help make my glove ready for the season!

First off don't put oil on it, don't put shaving cream on it, and don't get it wet. These will all deteriorate the leather and make it break down sooner. There is one conditioner that I got fro a Puerto Rican company that helps. But mostly keep 2 balls in the pocket and tie it up when your not throwing. I like to throw with someone who throws hard to help break it in too.
