I used to think the same thing about reflexes and coordination until I got into the sporting goods business. Today's technology of composite bats are ridiculous. With today's bats a lot of people that shouldnt be able to… can hit homeruns…. and the ball comes of the ball ridiculously hotter. On top of that people bore out (shave) their bats to make the walls thinner and that makes them even hotter. I have seen plenty of adults and kids take nasty hits. I play the outfield now unless we are playing with metal or wood bats.

I took a ball to the cheek while coaching fastpitch high school girls and while talking to a couple of our girls took a foul ball off my cheek. While it was my fault not paying attention, Id gladly wear a mask rather than go through that pain again lol
